The Lord received the sweetest angel on February 18, 2017, when we lost our beloved mother, grandmother, and best friend, Mildred E. Davis Green. God welcomed a very special LADY with an honest, caring, and generous heart of gold to her well-deserved mansion in Heaven.
Born Mildred Eloise Davis in Elliott, Texas, on April 8, 1925, she lived most of her adult life in Houston, Texas.
Mildred was happiest when she was cooking or visiting with her family and playing with grandchildren. She also loved her extended family of “law enforcement boys”. After becoming a police survivor, she created her own way of honoring Harris County deputy constables killed in the line of duty. For almost 15 years she held a balloon release during National Law Enforcement Memorial Week. For just as many years she made sure that the Precinct 1 Constable’s office near her home had trays of good things to eat at Christmas.
Mildred was preceded in death by her husband William Lee Green, Sr., parents, Clarence, and Norma Davis, brother William L. “Bud” Davis, sisters-in-law Mary Jo Davis and Joan Davis, and grandson, Micheal Eakin.
She is survived by her daughter Linda Paulk and husband Mike, son Bill Green and wife Janet, and son Bob Green and wife Flo, five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Also surviving are five siblings, sisters Ruby Lee Barnett and Betty Jane Stowe and brothers Robert Earl Davis, Carl Gene Davis, and Billy Ray Davis and their families.
Many other relatives and friends will miss Mildred’s happy, loving, sweet smile and are blessed for having known her.
Thank you to her special friends and caregivers who loved Mildred at Pathways Memory Care.
In lieu of flowers you may contribute to the 100 Club of Houston in memory of Mildred Green.
