Michael “Mike” Robert Vinson, 44, of Houston, Texas, passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2024. Born on February 1, 1980, in Houston, Mike was known for his unwavering passion for music, his insatiable sweet tooth, and his steadfast loyalty to friends. Mike attended Langham Creek High School in Houston and South Puget Sound Community College in Olympia, Washington. He was proud to have worked in the hospitality industry as a cook, bar tender, and waiter, including on cruise ships in Hawaii and Alaska. He will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.
Mike is survived by his devoted parents, Robert "Bob" Eugene Vinson and Virginia "Ginger" Lee Vinson of Houston, and his sister, Elizabeth "Liz" Lynn Vinson, of San Antonio, Texas. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Alvin and Esther Vinson of Kennewick, Washington, and Willis and Juanita Creson of New Blaine, Arkansas, along with his beloved cat, Gary, whose legacies of love he carried with him.
Throughout his life, Mike embodied kindness and compassion, leaving an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to know him. He will be remembered for his gentle spirit and generous soul.
A memorial service will be held Friday, October 25, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, 1111 St. Joseph Pkwy, Houston, Texas 77002.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice or to the Southern Smoke Foundation of Houston, which is a nonprofit that helps food and beverage workers.
