Michael was preceded in death by his mother.
He is survived by his loving wife of 10 years, Mary Trahan; children, Katelyn Dacy and Kelsey Trahan; father, Gabriel Norman Trahan; brother, Gabriel Norman Trahan, Jr.; sister, Ann Trahan Lanoux and husband Mark Joseph; mother and father-in-law, David and Paul-E Geddes; brothers-in-law, Dan Geddes and wife Melissa and John Geddes and wife Robin; sister-in-law, Katherine Woods and husband Steven; and many numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family members and friends.
Mike grew up in Metairie, Louisiana. He graduated from East Jefferson High School, the University of New Orleans and later received his MBA from the University of Houston. He started working as a teen for Mackenzie’s bakery and even opened the stores for them at a young age. From there he worked for his brother at Gulf Instruments, UPS, Taxx and Tulane University before working for ODECO. Mike joined ODECO Drilling Co. in New Orleans, La., in June 1990 as a system analyst. After the company’s merger with Diamond Offshore Drilling Inc. in 1992, Mike relocated to Houston, Texas where he held several positions in the IT department before being named Chief Information Officer of the company in 2002. He enjoyed spending time with his family in Destin, Florida and just spending a night playing board games at home or swimming in the backyard pool. His hobby’s included hunting, running, biking and treasured his father/ daughter campouts with Indian Princess’.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, March 27, 2012, at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas, 77079, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a Vigil Service and Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. that evening. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, March 28, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Church, 1530 Norwalk Drive, Houston, Texas 77450. Interment will follow at Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to your personal charity. Some suggestions: Mike fought a battle with Lymphoma cancer many years ago, his Mom passed away from Lymphoma cancer, his nephew continues to battle brain cancer and he road several times in the MS150 to support their cause.
