Michael Anthony Flores went to be with the Lord on October 8, 2021. He was born on November 17, 1972 in Houston, Texas to John and Paula Flores. Michael was preceded in death by parents John and Paula Flores and older brother, John Edward Flores. He is survived by sister, Paula Michelle Flores; brother, Mark Isaac Flores & wife Katharina & nephew, Sebastian Martin Flores; step-mother, Aurora Ibarra Flores; and two aunts, Martha De Leon & Teodora Mosqueda, plus numerous cousins and friends.
Despite Michael being disabled the majority of his adult life, he held many jobs within the family. He was the true definition of a jack of all trades. He was the family mechanic, plumber, carpenter and grocery shopper. He did all these jobs well but was particularly good at grocery shopping. He could find all the good deals. However, caring for those that were dear to his heart was the most important job he held during his lifetime. At a very young age, Michael was a steadfast and loving caregiver for his mother as she battled breast cancer. Michael would later be called again to the role of caregiver as he took care of his older brother Eddie during his journey with rectal cancer. Michael also assisted in the care of his father when he was needed.
Michael had a loving and caring heart. He didn’t have much money but wanted any child he knew whether it be a relative or not, to have toys for Christmas or birthdays. Michael always tried to be a tough guy but deep down he was just a big ol teddy bear. Michael was really big into Sci-Fi. He loved anything Star Wars or Star Trek.
When it came to family, Michael was there. He was always ready to give you a ride, be a last-minute baby-sitter, perform complicated wound care etc. We all were important to Michael, but his nephew Sebastian was his world. They both have the same interests such as dogs, drawing, watching movies like Godzilla, Justice League and Spider-Man. They are so much alike it’s uncanny. After Michael's mother passed, Michael had to help his father care for his younger sister. He would help braid her hair or make sure she looked decent for school. He became the mother hen in a sense for her and their older brother. In the last few months of his life, Michael would call his Aunt Martha every day. They would gossip about anything and everything.
Michael was never the type of person who wanted to be the center of attention, but just always wanted to be included. Bubba, you are so loved and you will be missed more than you will ever know.
