Michael Thomas Callaghan of Houston, Texas passed away on October 18, 2023 at the age of 70. He was born on October 7, 1953 in Coventry, England where he grew up before moving to the United States in the 70's.
Michael attended Christ the King Catholic School followed by graduation from Bishop Ullathorne Catholic School.
Michael worked as an apprentice draftsman at Dunlop in Coventry, England. He worked for a few companies in Connecticut, Ohio, California and eventually settled in Houston, Texas as a highly trained and skilled CNC Machinist. Michael retired from Dril-Quip in February 2022 after more than 20 years of service.
In his early years, Michael started a DJ business with his friends Sean Kelly and Malc Sheen, called the Bullet Road Show. They performed for youth groups, parties and weddings. From a young age Mike developed a passion for all things that involved trains, particularly steam engines. After settling in Houston, he met friends that introduced him to Harley Davidson Motorcycles and joined The Deacons of Deadwood Motorcycle Club, a 501(c)(3) corporation that has donated millions of dollars over 20 years to various charities, including Camp for All and Boys and Girls Club. Mike was member number 13 and was a patched member of over 20 years.
Mike is preceded in death by his parents John and Margaret Anne Callaghan.
He is survived by his partner of 19 years, Sylvia Chester. His four sisters, Helen, Catherine, Geraldine and Margaret Callaghan. As well as, his nephew and niece Sam and Sianne Callaghan, 2 great nieces, a great nephew, an Aunt Peg Killen in Birtley, England and numerous cousins.
Mike's family would like to thank all their extended family and friends for the heartfelt love and warmth they received on Mike's passing.
