Merle Cole

Merle Katherin Cole, born Merle Katherin Howze, passed from this life to be with her Lord on January 17, 2018. Merle was born October 23, 1932, in Houston Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents, H. H. and Katherin Howze. She is survived by her husband Glenn of 66 years; one brother, Harold Lee; son Glenn Jr. and wife Vickie; son Gayland; grandchildren Aaron and wife Becky, Chelsea, and Morgan; great-grandchildren Asher, Sadie, Tristen, Storie, and Nadia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Merle grew up in Houston and graduated from San Jacinto High School. She was a devoted wife and mother, but her first priorities in life were the Lord Jesus Christ and His church as a member of Providence Baptist Church in Pasadena, Texas. She absolutely loved and took pride in her family and providing a Christian home that was neat, inviting, and always welcoming to all. One of her main joys was fixing a noon meal for close friends. She loved the outdoors, but especially fishing. She often bragged about the 62-pound halibut she caught during one of the Alaskan fishing trips with Glenn and friends.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 21, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Providence Baptist Church, 3801 Preston Road, Pasadena Texas, followed by a memorial service at 3:00 PM.

There will be a gathering for family and friends on Monday, January 22, 2018 at 10:00AM at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale Avenue, Houston, Texas, with a graveside service at 11:00 AM.

Memorial contributions may be made to Providence Baptist Church.
