Maurice was born of late Mr. Henock Ngoe Mofa and Mrs. Mary Isange on December 14th 1958 in Bisoro Balue - Cameroon. He was the first of 8 children, of which only 3 (1 sister and 2 brothers) are now living.
As a young boy, Maurice attended the Basel Mission Primary School where he obtained his First School Leaving Certificate (GED). He then enrolled at the Presbyterian Teachers’ Training College Nyasoso where he graduated with a Grade 2 Teaching Certificate. This gave him the opportunity to teach for a couple of years at the Presbyterian School Ediki, Mbonge and Presbyterian School Kake II Bakundu in the South West Province of Cameroon. He decided to pursue his education further by enrolling in CCAS (Cameroon College of Arts and Sciences) Kumba where he obtained his Ordinary and Advanced Levels Certificates. Thereafter, he left for Nigeria, Numan, Gongola State where he worked as a store accountant for a Sugar Company for two years. Being the ambitious person that he was, he decided to quit his job and created his own business. Unfortunately, things didn’t quite work out, so after 3 years of struggling with the business, he decided to return to Cameroon where he took up his teaching job again, but this time in Garoua in the Northern part of Cameroon. After a couple of years teaching in Garoua, he moved to Douala, the littoral Province where he taught again briefly before relocating to the United States in 1986.
While in the US, he settled in Houston, Texas. He quickly integrated himself in the society by working in different fast food chains including McDonald’s, Popeyes amongst others; while going to school. He successfully earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from the University of Houston, followed by a Bachelor of Science degree in Technology/Consumer Science & Merchandising/Purchasing. With his improved credentials, he started Working as a Quality Assurance Engineer at EGC Corporation - Houston; then as Quality Manager at Atlantic Region Engineering, Technip Offshore, Inc. – Houston, TX in 2001. But he was never satisfied with where he was professionally or educationally, so he continued with studies earning himself two (2) Master’s degrees (Master of Science Degree in Occupational Technology from University of Houston and Masters of Quality Management ISO 14001 Implementation and Auditing). In addition, he acquired several Professional certifications including Quality System Auditor Certificate from QMI, Assessor/Lead Assessor Certificate from QMI ; and QS 9000 Certificate of Training courses by ABS Quality System. At this point, he was hired as Director, QA Management at Aker Solutions US Inc. – Houston, TX, then as Director of Quality Assurance at Modec, Inc. This, unfortunately, was his last post held after more than 23 years of strong educational and work experience in the US in quality management in various manufacturing and engineering environments; as he started to become seriously sick by November 2015. He was laid off. His failing health also took what he loved most; his endless thirst for knowledge; as he was forced to stop working on his PHD in Business Administration that he was almost finished with. In a nutshell, Maurice was a hard-working, career driven and very loving father.
He is survived by his only Child Esubay Mofa, 1 sister, 2 brothers, and other family members and friends and family to mourn him.
May His Soul Rest in Perfect Peace!!!
