Mary Margaret Rice Goodwin

MARY MARGARET RICE GOODWIN, (95), passed away peacefully on Monday, March 27, 2017. Mary was a long time resident of Houston since 1948 and was a Proud Texan. Born in Birmingham, Alabama and living her early years in Jacksonville, Miami and Coral Gables, Florida, and Rouses Point, New York. Mary was a business owner and worked in the hospitality industry for over 35 years. Bridge and bingo were her hobbies. She served on numerous ministries during her three childrens’ education of 8 years each, at St. Christopher Catholic School. Survived by her daughter, Sara K. Goodwin (Houston); son and daughter-in-law, Lee and Alicia Goodwin, (Belleair, Florida); and daughter-in-law, Debbie Goodwin(Salt Lake City, Utah); brother and sister-in-law, James and Cele Goodwin (USAF & USN) (Houston); sister-in-law, Betty Hicks (Irving); grandchildren: Michelle Goodwin Greer, and husband, Stacey Greer (Austin), Jeff Goodwin and wife Carmen Goodwin (Golden, Colo.), Greg Goodwin and wife, Lissana Goodwin (Austin); great grandchildren: Jeffrey Goodwin (Boulder, Colo), Angelica Goodwin, Gabriel Goodwin and “Precious Goldie”(Golden, Colo); and Lily Greer (Austin); and many loving nieces, nephews and extended family. Pre-deceased by her son, Thomas Rice Goodwin (USMC) (Salt Lake City,Utah); husband, Herb Goodwin(USN) (Houston); Parents, mother and father; Kate B. Rice and T.W.J. Rice (Tallahassee, Florida); brother and sister-in-law, Thomas Rice (USAF) and Lynn Rice (Havana, Florida); brother-in-law, William Goodwin, (Marquez, Texas). Visitation, will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 9:30 am at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery. Pallbearers: Jeff Goodwin, Jeffrey Goodwin, Greg Goodwin, Gabe Goodwin. Honorary Pallbearers: Pam Barton, Sonja Novo, Griselda Martinez, Adrianne Peck.
