She fought this insidious disease for the past few years with tenancity, dignity and grace; she never let it dominate her life; she remained strong and determined.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents – Obie F. Tharp and Vergia B. Tharp, brother – Andy Tharp, two grandchildren – Jeffrey and Shannon, and lastly her loving husband of 47 years, Jack Harper, Jr.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory her three children and their spouses: DeeDee and Alan Tackett, JoJo and Donald Wright, and Jeffrey Harper. She has 14 loving grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren (and one on the way). We have not only lost our mother, grandmother, and great grandmother but a true angel.
She was truly a miracle after her heart transplant in 2001, then diagnosed with lung cancer twice.. We were truly blessed to have had these last 11 years with her.
She will be sincerely missed by all who knew her.
