Mary Virginia Davis

Mary Virginia Davis, age 88, best known by all she loved as Ninny Baby went to be with the Lord on February 15, 2022. She was born in Bessemer, AL on June 17, 1933, to parents Harvey R. Blue and Ethel Woods, and at the age of 16 made her way to Texas where Virginia met and married James Davis at the age of 18 and were married for 54 years. Virginia spent the first half of her adulthood raising her four daughters, and later started her career in food service at New Caney ISD in the early 90’s. Virginia enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and was an active part in providing after school care for her grandchildren. Several years ago, Virginia gave her heart to the Lord and entered into salvation.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, James Davis, her great granddaughter, Kaitlyn Gunnels, brothers Clarence Blue and Robert Blue, sisters Leta Quartaro and Ethyl Coggins.

She is survived by her four daughters Sandra Kirschner and husband Harry, Joy Tovar and husband Fidel, Susie Davis, and Lynne Haffelder; grandchildren, Lori Gunnels, Brian Guillory and wife Tanya, Logan Haffelder and wife Halie; and two great grandchildren, Elliott and Ariana Haffelder, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, February 25th from 6-8 pm, and a Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, February 26th at 2:00, with graveside services at 3:00 pm. Services will be held at Brookside Funeral Home at 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039 followed by burial at Brookside Memorial Park.
