Sue Aldridge age 90 of Gilmer, Texas went to be with the Lord November 20, 2020 in Tyler, Texas. She was born July 30, 1930 in Pritchett, Texas to W.L. and Berta Maberry Smith.
Sue and her family lived in Pritchett, Texas until they moved to Houston, Texas in 1936 when she was six. She met and married the love of her life Travis Aldridge on August 6, 1948 and graduated from Jeff Davis High School in 1949. She was a longtime keypunch operator for Duncan Coffee, and United Salt. And longtime member of First Baptist Church of Gilmer. She was blessed with many lifelong friends. She lived a long and full life. She’s remembered as being a great cook, and loved to garden. She was the matriarch of our family who ran a tight ship while Daddy worked.
Preceding her in death are her husband Travis, her parents W.L. and Berta Maberry Smith. Sue’s survived by daughters Susan Walker and husband John and Sharon Duran and her husband JD; grandchildren: John Travis, and James Walker and wife Lori, Jason Duran and Jennifer Duran; great-grandchildren: Patchen, Kennedy, and Macy, Travis, Alene, and Michael. Beloved Aunt “Mary Sue” to many, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation starts at 2 :00 p.m on Friday, November 27, at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas with burial to follow at 3:30 p.m. in Brookside Memorial Park.
