Mark Morrow Cooley, 63, born on February 3, 1958 in Jonesboro, AR, passed away February 4, 2021 in Houston, TX. Mark grew up in Houston and proudly served in the US Navy for four years. He then returned to Houston where he met his wife, Jenny, and worked in outside sales for Houston Trane Company for nearly 40 years. Fishing, sports, cooking, and spending time with family were his passions. Mark loved watching the Houston Astros, Houston Texans, Texas A&M Aggies, and Arkansas Razorbacks. He had a profound love for the Lord and his family. In recent years, he attended Houston’s First Baptist Church with his family. Mark lived and enjoyed a fulfilled life; he never met a stranger. He loved everyone he met and in return, he was loved by so many.
Mark is survived by his wife and best friend of 37 years, Jenny, and their three children: Kendall Strain, husband Shinji, and two sons Ezekiel (Zeke) and Jude; Jake Cooley, wife Sarah, and son Hudson; and Sam Cooley. He is also survived by his sister Michelle Mulcahy, husband Tom, and son Collin (wife Lauren); brother Matthew Cooley, wife Talbot, and sons Joel and John; stepbrothers Harrie Cooley, Jay Cooley, David Cooley; stepsister Debbie Smith; many nieces and nephews, a large extended family, and countless friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ennis and Jo Cooley.
In lieu of flowers, we are asking any donations be made to Bible Project, a nonprofit organization whose mission is "helping people experience the Bible as a unified story that leads to Jesus". Mark knew that all that matters is the Gospel - the Good News that Jesus came and will come again for His church. Bible Project has had an eternal impact on our family and we pray that many more lives will be eternally impacted.
