She was born on January 24, 1932, in Hallettsville, TX to the late Louis and Emma Butschek. She graduated from Hallettsville High School. She then went to Victoria Business College. On November 6, 1954, she was united in marriage to Willie Hlavac in Hallettsville, TX. Marjorie worked and lived in Houston before starting her family. She made friends for life, never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a hand. She was a devout Catholic and served for over 45 years with the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court Regina Coeli #1959, and was involved in the rosary guild. She was devoted to her faith, charity, and serving the Catholic Daughters to help organize and plan the annual Nun’s Day events for over 40 years. She sang in the church choir for many years at Our Lady of Mount Carmel. She was also a parishioner at St. Michael’s the Archangel in Needville, TX over the past four years. Her passion in life was her faith and her love for family.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Willie Hlavac. She is survived by her loving children, Carolyn and her husband Richard Roos, Barbara and her husband Danny Allcorn, Anthony and his wife Barbara Hlavac, and Michael and his wife Laura Hlavac; beloved grandchildren, Stephanie and her husband Steven Hurst, James and his wife Sarah Hlavac, Jennifer Spalding and Grady Starks, and Christopher Hlavac; beloved great-grandchildren, Roxy Brianna, Steven Richard, Bella Grace, Sophia Rose, Maverick William, and Revan Gray. She is further survived by numerous loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
A rosary will be held in Houston, TX at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church on Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held in Hallettsville, TX at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at 2:00 pm.
