Marie Maldonado-Villalobos was granted a long held wish and was called home on September 27 at the age of 66 years old in Corpus Christi, Texas. She was one of three children of Francisco Maldonado and Salud Valadez.
As a paraprofessional with Aldine ISD for over 25 years, she was able to dedicate her time working with special needs children. During her off time, she pursued her passion with volunteer organizations and local community work. She devoted a large part of her life to Special Olympics as a coach in various sports: soccer, bocce, golf, bowling, swimming, and track. She was a member of AEPA and TESA and in turn, received recognition as Secretary of the Year. She additionally held various leadership positions in both organizations.
She was the beloved wife of the late Johnny Villalobos Sr.; loving mother of Johnny Jr. (Bishop, Texas), Martin (Kingsville, Texas), and Jillian (Houston, Texas); and cherished grandmother of Leticia, Leila, Martin Jr., and Ava.
Friends and family may call on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm at the Brookside Funeral Home (13747 Eastex Fwy, Houston, TX 77039). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at 10:00 am at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church (215 Rittenhouse, Houston, TX 77076). As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Stroke Association.
