Marie Socorro Valverde, 85 of Houston, Texas was called home by our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on August 25, 2023, surrounded by her children and grandchildren at her side. She was born in Houston, Texas February 17, 1938, to Romualdo and Fortunata Valdes. She was married to Gilbert Valverde for 63 years and had two daughters and two sons.
Marie served for NASA as a secretary for the Astronauts, scheduling their flights as well as managing their boarding and hotel arrangements. She also worked in the Veterans Affairs Administration office until retirement. In addition, she was also a member of St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church. Furthermore, above all else, Marie was a woman who held a heart ever unconditional, extending her affection endlessly amongst her loved ones through various means, carrying tender hands that served to provide love with every back she scratched, to every meal she cooked, from something as simple as Mexican rice, to her signature, beloved Macaroni and Cheese. Even her home was lit up with her vibrance, always decorated festive and cheery, not a day passing without a Christmas tree lingering somewhere nearby, leaving a sense of wonder and joy always.
Marie was proceeded in death by her husband, Gilbert Valverde Sr. her parents Romualdo and Fortunata Valdes, her siblings Ray Valdes, Mike Valdes, Geneva Salas, Tony Valdes, and great grandson Henry Ford. She is survived by her siblings Chema Valdes, Cruz Valdes, Paz Silva, Louis Valdes, Julio Valdes, children: Gilbert (Diana), Sandy Vail (Russell), David (D’ann), Lori Carte ( Thomas ); her grandchildren: Allison, Jamie Turpin (Tyler), Elizabeth, Travis, Lauren, Karen Jennings (William), Wendy Ford (Patrick), Timothy (Lisa), Christian, Titus, Thomas III (Lesly), Shelby, Hannah; great grandchildren: Declan, Liam, Milo, Isabella, William, Ezio, Raiden, Kairi, Molly, Lucy, Annabella, Charlotte, Henrietta, Oliver, and Thomas IV; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
