Maria "Mary" M. Zuniga

Maria "Mary" M. Zuniga, age 89, of Houston, Texas passed away on Saturday, July 24, 2021. Maria was born October 2, 1931. Maria was raised by Leandro Martinez and Juanita Wilmas, in Nuevo Laredo, MX. She married Inocencio R. Zuniga in 1963. Together they raised 2 children in Houston, TX.

She was preceded in death by her husband; Inocencio R. Zuniga, son; Alberto Zuniga, and all of her immediate family members.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Graciela Z. Munoz and her husband Rene; grandchildren, Rene Munoz II, Fabian Munoz, Gina Elaine Munoz, Albert Anthony Zuniga, Jeremy Jay Zuniga, Natalie Moore; great grandchildren, Allyson Abigail Zuniga, Emme Faith Zuniga, Jaylen Marie Zuniga, Jenevieve Rose Zuniga, Penelope Moore, Calliope Moore, Cosette Elise Munoz, Ella Marie Munoz and numerous nieces, nephews and relatives.

Maria was a homemaker. She loved her church, St. Patrick and was very active in so many charitable events. She worked at Spohn Hospital in Corpus Christi in her younger years. She loved her Houston Astros, sewing and knitting. She enjoyed making tamales for her family. She was given the gift of curing people with old cultural remedies. But most of all, she enjoyed Family, being a grandmother. Mary volunteered with her husband at the VFW Post and at the Astrodome during the Astros games. She was a member of the Guadalupanas de San Patricio and a member of the Sisters of Charity.

A visitation for Mary will be held Friday, July 30, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023. A rosary service will be recited at 7:00 PM. A funeral mass will occur Saturday, July 31, 2021 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 4918 Cochran St., Houston, TX 77009. A committal service will follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
