Maria Elida Muniz

Maria E. Muniz, 76 of Houston, Texas a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend was a strong, independent woman who loved her family and friends. She was one of nine children born June 25, 1947 in Matamoros, Mexico to Ignacio and Hilaria (Alejandro) Gil and passed away Monday, November 6, 2023. She enjoyed raising her 4 children and helping with her grandchildren as well, they were her pride and joy. She was a very outgoing, social person always wanting to look her best and dressing up fancy. She also enjoyed the outdoors, watching sports, dancing, listening to music and watching movies. Other hobbies included gardening and cooking.

She is survived by her children, Lily Muniz Castro and husband Gabriel; Janet Sosa and husband, Abel; Robert Muniz and Juan Muniz; 10 grandchildren, Alianna Alaniz, Jeremy Castro, Hilary Bustos, Daisy Quintero, Jasmine Sosa, Abel Sosa, Jr., Nathaniel Muniz, Juan Muniz Ashley Muniz and Nevaeh Rose Muniz along with 6 great-grandchildren, Dominic Johnson, Draya Marie Johnson, Admire Carter Cheatham, Melanie Anne Tamez ,Alonzo Tamez and Juan Muniz IV; brothers, Ignacio Gil, Sergio Gil, and Pepe Gil; sisters, Marvy Mendoza, Juana Esquivel, Mine Cantu and Hilda Martinez along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Juan Torres Muniz; her brother, Eusebio Chevo Gil and her parents, Ignacio and Maria Hilaria Gil.

Visitation will be held Monday, November 13, 2023 at Funeraria Del Angel Crespo from 1:00pm until 9:00pm. Funeral services will be held 11:00am, Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at Crespo Funeral Chapel followed by burial at Forest Park Lawndale at 1:00pm. Serving as pallbearers will be Robert Muniz, Abel Sosa Jr, Abel Sosa, Gabriel L. Castro, Ignacio Gil, Pepe Gil and Gilbert Gil.

A visitation for Maria will be held Monday, November 13, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Crespo, 4136 BROADWAY ST, HOUSTON, TX 77087. A funeral will occur Tuesday, November 14, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 4136 BROADWAY ST, HOUSTON, TX 77087. A committal will occur Tuesday, November 14, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home & Forest Park Lawndale, 6900 Lawndale St, Houston, TX 77023.
