Maria Eva Lopez

Maria Eva Lopez was a caring mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, Tia and friend. On the evening of November 12, 2022, at the age of 86 years old, Maria sadly passed away due to a multi-year long battle against Alzheimer's disease.

Maria was born on November 8, 1936 in Laredo, Texas. Throughout her life, she was extremely dedicated to the service of others and giving back to her community. For many years she worked as a Certified Nurse Assistant at Texas Women's Hospital in the Maternity Ward, taking care of mothers and their newborns. Additionally, she worked in Home Health care, tending to elderly patients with any illnesses or injuries. As a Christian, Maria also volunteered and served at Lakewood Church, greeting people before and after Sunday service.

Maria deeply enjoyed cooking homemade, Mexican meals for her family. Her recipes have been passed down to other family members. During the holidays, her famously delicious tamales were a must-have! She also enjoyed tending to her plants in her personal garden. Maria loved spending time with her family. Her apartment brought together members of the family for holidays and special events.

In this time of grief, our beloved Maria is remembered by many relatives and loved ones. Maria's parents are Pedro Lopez (deceased) and Maria Luisa Cantù (deceased), and her siblings are Jose Morales, Mike Lopez, Juana Castillo, Virginia Lopez, and Cuca "Cookie" Quintania. Maria's children are Janie Orosco (deceased), Fausto Rocha Jr. (deceased), Rose Rocha, Rafaela Torres (deceased), Roxanna Rocha Gutierrez, Pedro Rocha, and Eddie Rocha (deceased). Maria also has 23 grandchildren, along with 37 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren! Maria was cherished and adored by all of her family and friends. As this obituary comes to a close, I would like to thank each and every one of you, for being here to celebrate the life of this amazing woman, Maria Eva Lopez. She had a warm soul and an infectious smile.

Maria will forever hold a place in our hearts and memories.

A visitation for Maria will be held Friday, November 18 and 19, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Chapel of Eternal Peace at Forest Park, 2454 S Dairy Ashford, Houston, TX 77077. A funeral service will occur Sunday, November 20, 2022 starting at 10:00 AM. A committal service will follow.
