Ms. Maria Salazar Garza, long-time resident of Sharpstown and current resident of Pasadena, passed away on September 24, 2018. She was born May 21, 1937, in Houston, Texas, to Virgilio Salazar and Consuelo Gamboa Salazar. Mary graduated from Charles H. Milby High School in Houston, Texas. She spent many years working as an executive secretary, her last position with Texas Children’s Hospital. She is preceded in death by her parents; her step-father, Cesario Moreno; and her sister, Irma Salazar Gumkowski. She is survived by her sister, Yolanda Dominguez and her husband Joe; nephew, whom she helped raise, Vincent Gumkowski and his wife, Tanya; nephew, Roland Dominguez, MD and his wife Velma; nephew, Richard Dominguez and his wife Renn; niece, Laura Dominguez Chan and her husband Craig; ten great-nephews, three great-nieces, one great-great-niece, and one great-great-nephew. Her funeral is scheduled for Tuesday, October 2, 2018, at Forest Park Funeral Home and Cemetery on Lawndale in Houston with visitation at 11:00 A.M., service at 12:00 P.M., and graveside service at 1:00 P.M.
