Margarita Guajardo Lozano Garcia, age 90, passed away on the 29th of March 2012, conquering her long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. At the time of her victory, Margarita soared to the everlasting arms of our heavenly Father.
Margarita, daughter of Francisco Guajardo Trevino and Gregoria Lozano Lozano, was born in Hacienda de Santa Rosa, Apodaca, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. She was a direct descendant of the settlers of the original Spanish land grants in the area that is now South Texas. Later in life, she proudly became a naturalized United States citizen.
She spent her early married life in Laredo, Texas. In 1950, she and her husband moved to Houston, where she lived until her death. Margarita was a faithful wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend to many. She was a servant of the Lord, always willing to help the afflicted or the one in need. She dedicated her life to the wellbeing of her family, instilling in her children the importance of education, the virtue of honesty and hard work, and the love and faith in Jesus Christ. Margarita enjoyed all that was beautiful and graceful, as she was truly a lady of beauty and grace.
Margarita was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Enrique Garcia Trevino; children, Hilda Minerva, Enrique Edmundo, and Orpha Linda; and sister, Hermila. She is survived by her children, Ruth Pettijohn and her husband, John; Jonas Garcia and his wife, Carol, and Naomi Foote and her husband, Larry; grandchildren, Boyd Wayne Meier, Jr. and his wife, Karen, Magdalen Alexandria Hanley Garcia, Jonas Alexander Hanley Garcia, Benjamin Alexander Hanley Garcia, Monica Yvette Foote, Aaron Zachary Foote, and Rebecca Elise Foote; and great-grandchildren, Robert Meier and Andrew Meier.
The family wishes to thank Isabel Perez, who was Margarita’s faithful caregiver for many years.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from noon until three o’clock in the afternoon on Sunday, the 1st of April, at Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.
The funeral service is to be conducted at ten o’clock in the morning on Monday, the 2nd of April, in the Chapel of West University Baptist Church, 6218 Auden Street in West University Place.
