Margaret Stultz

Margaret DeShazo Stultz, age 78, passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2018 in Houston, Texas. She was born on January 6, 1940 in West Plains to Henry DeShazo and Margaret Donahue DeShazo. She was a 1957 graduate of West Plains High School and continued her studies at SMS in Springfield and the University of Houston. Margaret married Larry Stultz on March 30, 1958.and they raised two children together. Margaret moved to the Houston, Texas area in 1969. She worked for Alcon Laboratories for over 30 years, retiring in 2006. She was a caring and giving person who loved watching sports; playing duplicate bridge; listening to music and attending the symphony, ballet, and opera; reading; traveling; movies, the color blue; and spending time with family and friends.

Margaret was a Life Master bridge player and a member of the American Contract Bridge League. She played regularly at three local bridge clubs in Houston, Texas and was considered a “very good player and desirable partner with a good attitude.”. She traveled to bridge tournaments around the country and won several trophies for her bridge playing prowess. She also plays a mean hand of Canasta and Pitch! Margaret was also an avid sports fan and a die-hard supporter of the Astros, Rockets, and Texans. She loved watching sporting events of all kinds from the Kentucky Derby to tennis and everything in between.

Margaret is lovingly remembered by her children, Margaret Ann Stull of Indianapolis, Indiana and Pete Stultz of Houston, Texas; her brother Tim DeShazo and his wife Judy of West Plains; her brother Mike DeShazo and his wife Loverne of West Plains; her sister-in-law Polly Stultz of St. Louis; her brother-in-law Steve Stultz of West Plains; her special friend Marshall “Mike” Houston of Boerne, Texas; her nephews Neal DeShazo of Bolivar; her nephew David Deshazo of 29 Palms, California; her nephew John DeShazo of Halfway; her nieces Lori DeShazo, Jennifer DeShazo Bertrum, and Anna DeShazo White, all of West Plains; her nephew John DeShazo of West Plains; and numerous cousins, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brother Henry “Sonny” DeShazo, and her nephew Timmy DeShazo.

Visitation will be held Monday, January 29, 2018 from 11:30 to 12:30 with funeral services following at 12:30 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home in Houston, Texas. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Margaret’s name to the Salvation Army or the Houston Food Bank.
