She was initially educated at Middlesex Corner Primary. After leaving school, she went to the capital city Kingston where she lived for many years. On her return to Hanover she worked at a baseball factory and a garment factory in the town of Lucea. She also worked as a higgler selling produce in the local markets.
She migrated to the US January 25, 1996 and later became a US citizen in 2003. She was employed at Joyce Darden Cleaning Services and as a cook at Caribbean Cuisine restaurant. She worked at the Marriot International hotel for ten years where she received many outstanding awards for her dedication. She then retired from the Marriot hotel in 2011. She enjoyed walking, gardening and cooking authentic Jamaican dishes for her family and friends.
Margaret Malcolm departed this life on May 25, 2019. She is preceded in death by her son Osmond Steadrick Stephens.
She leaves behind four brothers Oswald Malcolm, Vincent Malcolm, Cleveland Malcolm, Stanley Malcolm; four daughters Venetia, Rose-Marie, Andrea (Mark) and Denise; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
She was a very vibrant lady and she was very kind to her relatives and friends. She tried to solve everybody’s problems in the best way she could. She was very opinionated and would not hesitate to express herself. We admire her strength and hard work. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
