Margaret graduated Magna Cum-Laude from Stephen F. Austin University in 1961, and she received a Masters Degree in Education at the University of Houston. She was a very successful and inspirational teacher to both students and fellow teachers for 49 years. She contributed much of her time to making Memorial Parkway Junior High a “Blue Ribbon” school. She had been recognized for several outstanding achievements including Teacher of the Year twice, and her students nominated her four times for Who's Who Among Teachers. Teaching was her passion; she loved her students and spent most of her time creatively inspiring them to be successful life leaders. Margaret was incredibly unselfish and always took under her wing any new teacher. She was a gourmet cook, an avid gardener, a loyal friend, a beloved wife, a devoted mother, and a loving grandmother.
Margaret is survived by her husband John, her son John Junior, and her grandson Chase who called her Mops. Also, by sisters Wanda Jean, Nell, Janie and brother Sunny. She was predeceased by sisters Lois, Francis, and brother James. She was loved by so many and will be truly missed by more than we will ever know.
Memorial services will be at 11:00 am, Saturday, March 31, 2012 at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 15015 Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77079.
