Following the union of M.T. & Lillie Mae Dever, six children were born. On August 10, 1940 their third child, a beautiful baby girl, named Mae Emma Dever of Brenham, Texas (Washington County). Mae was baptized at a very young age at Rocky Chapel Baptist Church and went on to obey the gospel at South Union Church of Christ. She attended Pickard High School.
She married Robert Lee Hubbard on August 10, 1982, and they were married for 35 years. Mae worked as a nurse for 17 years at St. Elizabeth Hospital on Lyons Avenue. She owned and operated Lockwood Donut Shop along with her husband, children, and grandchildren. Her favorite past times were gardening, drawing, puzzles, cards, dominoes, video games, and photography. Mammo, as she was affectionately called by her children & grandchildren, was loved for her cooking, especially her peach cobbler and banana pudding.
She is survived by her husband Robert and their beautiful children: daughter April Jean – Cliff, daughter Mary Denise – Paul, son Lee Jr. – Wanda, and a host of extended children. She is also survived by her loving sisters Eline Ray and Rosie Jackson and devoted sister in law Marian Dever, all of Houston, Texas. Grandchildren Ga’valon Springfield, Damien Hubbard, Da’Cynthia Murray, Ly’Trecia Fields – Jervall, Cedric Stafford Jr.,Re'Kita Payne, Xavier Hubbard – Tamika, Titus Hubbard – Jona, Le’Kendron Springfield; great grandchildren Jordan, Zy’Marria, Jor’El, Kameron, Brianna, Haille, Jala, and Damien Jr., and a host of extended grandchildren.
Mae was preceded in death by Cynthia Ray, Douglas Dever, M.T. Dever, Damien Hubbard, Lillie Dever, Lois Dever, and Willie Dever.
