Madeline S. Vasquez has been called back home to Our Lord, Jesus Christ on the 9th of July, 2016. She has been known as Mary Madeline Santos and her birthday was January 23, 1938. She attended Sacred Heart Dominican College and graduated in 1960 with a degree in Nursing. That fall, in October, she married Lupe Garza Vasquez. They bought the home that she currently lived in on Members in 1968 or 1969, and had been a member of the South Belt community ever since. She worked for Harris County at San Jose Clinic, downtown Houston. She got hired on to HISD as a school nurse for Lamar Elementary. She got her Master Degree in Nursing from the University of Houston main campus in 1977 or 1978. She was later promoted to Child Study in 1984 or around that time. She worked for that department within the Houston Independent School District until she was forced to retire, due to a stroke in her brain, in July 2001.
She is survived by her devoted son in law Robert and daughter Sonya Barrientez, their two children: Marivella Kristeen (granddaughter) and Zarrean Robert (grandson). She is preceded in death by her loving husband Lupe, who was her primary caregiver until he passed from stomach cancer in August 3, 2008. She is also preceded in death by her loving parents Adeline and Luis Santos, her sisters Dora Hernandez, Julia Shem, and Angie Scoggins. Other family members, which are too numerous to name but have preceded her as well are now in heaven welcoming her home to Heaven.
