Guadalupe “Lupe” De La Rosa was born on July 9, 1929 in Newark Township, Michigan. She passed away on August 28, 2023 in Sugar Land, Texas. She was preceded in death by her twin sister Socorro, her daughter Paulette, her husband Paul De La Rosa, her daughter-in-law Jeannene De La Rosa, and her grandson-in-law Chris Mannarino.
She is survived by her brother, Albert, three sons, Richard (Donna) De La Rosa, Joseph (Estelle) De La Rosa, and Paul De La Rosa. Seven grandchildren, Melissa Mannarino, Lee De La Rosa, Sarah De La Rosa, Kyle De La Rosa, Joshua Jones, Joe Jones, and Jennifer Waddock. Seven great-grandchildren, Wyatt De La Rosa, J.T. Waddock, Andrew Jones, Drake Jones, Kainen Jones, Hayden Jones, and Nickalas Williams. Lupe is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Lupe married her husband Paul on February 10, 1952. They were stationed at many Army bases throughout the United States before settling back in their hometown of Houston, Texas after Paul’s retirement from the US Army.
Lupe was a devoted daughter to both her parents. When her mother could no longer care for herself, Lupe took her mother into her home and cared for her until her mother’s death at 101.
Lupe was a loving mother who was always there if her children needed her. She also had many extended family members who she was devoted to and who could count on her in time of need. If there was a family gathering, Lupe would be one of the first to arrive and the last to leave.
Visitation will be held at Advantage funeral home on September 6th at 4pm followed by a Rosary at 6pm. A funeral mass will be held at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Sugar Land, Texas on September 7th, at 11:00 A.M. Lupe will be laid to rest beside her husband at Forest Park Cemetery- Westheimer. A reception will immediately follow.
