Lucille Virginia Zabawa was born on June 27, 1941 to Louis and Pauline (Kloss) Zabawa. She was the third child born in a family of 7 children - 4 boys (Gene, Louis, James and Gary) and 3 girls (Irene, who died at 6 months of age, Lucille and Carol). Lucille passed away on Thursday, February 14th at the age of 77 yrs, 7 mths, and 18 days. She was married to Frankie McIntosh for 58 yrs, 7 mths and 27 days.
Lucille attended St. Theresa Catholic School from 1st through 8th grade. She finished 9th grade at Jefferson Davis High School and then decided to join the work force. She began working in the hosiery Department of Meyer Brothers in Meyerland Plaza Mall. While working in the mall, around January 1959, she met Frankie McIntosh, the love of her life. They dated for about 1 ½ years until Lucille informed Frankie that she wanted to get married before she turned 19 years old! Frankie and Lucille were married on June 18, 1960, 9 days before Lucille’s 19th birthday. They had 2 sons: Stephen and Frankie Jr. (better known as “Toby”). After marriage and children, Lucille stayed home to raise her two sons.
There were several things in life that Lucille cherished. Lucille always thought roses were absolutely beautiful. She loved country music and she loved to dance. She and Frankie would go to Bill Mraz to dance the polka, and they spent a lot of time at the Esquire Ballroom dancing as well. Although she enjoyed dancing to country music, she LOVED listening to Elvis Presley even more. Lucille’s favorite past time and most enjoyable thing she loved was going shopping! She was definitely the one person who could “shop till she dropped”! Frankie told Lucille that “if he passed before she did, she could cremate him and spread his ashes inside Walmart and Target so that she could see him every day”! When the family would go camping at their cabin in Willis, Lucille said the pine trees upset her allergies…….so off to Conroe she would go to shop!
