Lou Ann Phillips Lunsford, 75, beloved wife, loving mother, and doting grandmother went into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, July 9, 2017. Lou Ann was born June 27, 1942 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Houston, TX to the late Troy O. Phillips and Marjorie Barnes Phillips. She grew up in Lindale attending Park Temple Baptist Church where she gave her heart to Christ and was baptized at a young age. Lou Ann married her high school sweetheart, Woody and for most of their married life they lived in the Bellmar area of Houston, where they reared their children, Mark and Kay.
Through the years Lou Ann was active at Victory Baptist Church and at Bethel Baptist Church where she served the Lord with her talents as a Sunday school teacher and church hostess. Lou Ann was an amazingly talented artist, seamstress, and cook---her ingenuity was unrivaled. She also took great pride in her family heritage and many generations will be blessed by the research she compiled in her published works.
Lou Ann’s family meant the world to her, and she cherished them dearly. She is survived by her devoted husband of 56 years, Woodrow Lunsford, Jr.; her much-loved children, Mark Lunsford and wife, Gina of The Woodlands, TX; Kay Hindmon and husband, Alex of Huntsville, TX; precious grandchildren, Phillip Lunsford, Lauren Lunsford, Troy Hindmon, and Gabriel Hindmon. Being an only child, her cousins and Woody’s family meant the world to her, as well as her dearest friend and neighbor of 54 years, Doris Tarter.
Services will be led by Pastor David Barrett and interment will be held at Brookside Memorial Park 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX on Friday, July 14, 2017 at 10:00 a.m.
