Loretta M. Vogel

At the age of 79, Loretta Marie (Curran) Vogel passed into the loving arms of our Savior on January 27th, 2022. She was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on October 28th, 1942, to John and Mary (Montieth) Curran. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Aloysius Catholic Church. She graduated from St. Maria Goretti Catholic High School in 1960 and married Henry Alvin Vogel at St. Aloysius in Philadelphia on December 29th, 1962. Shortly after their honeymoon, they moved to Houston, Texas.

In 1964 their marriage was blessed with the birth of their son, Brian Keith Vogel, then again in 1970 with the birth of their daughter Susan Monica Vogel. Loretta worked for Texas Parks and Wildlife for 10 years, and for the Spring Independent School District for 11 years.

Loretta was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and always a loyal friend. She had extraordinary grace and a kind and grateful heart. She was friendly to everyone and always had time to talk to anyone. She loved family, her cats, and long walks in the park. Loretta was preceded in death by her late husband Henry Alvin Vogel; her parents John and Mary Curran; brothers John, James, Robert; and sisters Mary, Florence, Anna, and Theresa. She is survived by her brother Francis, his wife (Alice); her sis-in-laws Grace (Robert) and Suzy (James); her son Brian Vogel, (Betsy) of Houston, Texas; her daughter Susan (Vogel) Zipperer, (James) of Bear Creek, Texas; her two grandsons Branden and Blake Vogel also of Houston, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family is grateful for the loving care given over the past several years by the Woodhaven Village – Whispering Pines’ professional caregivers. Visitation will be held at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039 in the Chapel Friday night February 11, 2022, from 6:00 to 9:00 pm, with the Vigil and Rosary at 7:00 pm. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Ignatius of Loyola, 7810 Cypresswood Drive, Spring, Texas 77379-7101 on Saturday with visitation at 10:30 am and the Mass beginning at 11:00 am. Graveside services will be held with a return to Brookside Cemetery for the Rite of Committal and burial.
