Long P. Nguyen, M.D., beloved husband, father, and grandfather, was born on the 11th of April 1947 in Vietnam, and passed away on Wednesday, the 20th of December 2023 in Houston, Texas. He was 76 years of age.
Dr. Nguyen obtained his medical degree in 1974 from the University of Saigon. Following the fall of Saigon, he and his newly wedded wife Dr. Anh K. Luu came to Minnesota in 1976. After completing their medical residency in Ohio, the family settled in Texas in 1984 where Dr. Nguyen practiced anesthesiology. He opened a private practice in 1992 specializing in pain management. He retired from his practice earlier this year.
In his personal time, he enjoyed travelling, spending time with his family, and socializing with his friends. He was a devout Catholic and parishioner of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church for over 30 years.
Dr. Nguyen is predeceased by his father Tinh Nguyen, his mother Dieu Nguyen, and his sister Minh Yen Nguyen.
He is survived by his cherished wife of 47 years, Anh K. Luu, and their three children, Jennifer and her husband Robert Shults, Frank, and Christine, as well as his two much adored grandchildren, Blake and Audrey Shults. In addition, he is survived by his brothers, Huy and Bau; and sisters Vui, Thu Mai, Tuyet Mai, and Thu Nguyet.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from two o'clock in the afternoon until eight o'clock in the evening on Friday, the 29th of December, in the Jasek Chapel and Parlor of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston, where the Vigil for Dr. Nguyen is to commence at two o'clock in the chapel.
The Mass of Christian Burial is to be offered at half-past twelve o'clock in the afternoon on Saturday, the 30th of December, in the Chapel of St. Basil at the University of St. Thomas, 1018 W. Alabama Street in Houston.
The Rite of Committal is to follow, via escorted cortege, in the Texas Liberty Mausoleum of Memorial Oaks Cemetery in Houston.
