Linda Carol Larkin was born to the parentage of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Ed & Hazel Green on May 29, 1950 in Houston, Texas where she grew up and attended public schools. She was a graduate of Kashmere Gardens Senior High School. She later attended Texas Southern University, where she obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education.
On January 3, 1975, she united in Holy Matrimony to Percy Larkin. To whom a son and daughter were born.
She was employed with the North Forest Independent School District for 30 years before retiring. While at North Forest ISD, she had the opportunity to teach many students at East Mount Houston Elementary and Shadydale Elementary. She was a gifted educator who enjoyed helping her students to excel.
She accepted Christ at an early age and united with Galilee Missionary Baptist Church where she sung in the choir and served on the usher board. She also served as President of the Jr. Choir, Secretary, Church Treasurer & Deaconess. She later joined Christian Tabernacle, also known as Inspire Church Houston, under the leadership of Dr. Richard Heard. She was a founding member of Family Faith Ministries where she would minister the good news to those who were confined to Home Health Care Centers, Nursing Homes and Assisted Living Facilities. She was adored by many residents at the Dukes & Dutchess facility in Houston, TX due to her exemplary compassion and patience. She was also known for not forgetting anyone’s birthday and ensured that residents were recognized and celebrated on their special day.
On June 1, 2022, Linda answered her master’s call and was transcended from her earthly house to her heavenly home. Linda loved the Lord and was a devoted mother, wife, grandmother, daughter, sister and beloved aunt. She was a woman of virtue who exemplified strong family values, strength, wisdom and true meaning of LOVE. We must not forget her passion for traveling, cooking, gardening and nurturing her beautiful flowers.
Linda Carol Larkin was preceded in death by her dad, Ben Ed Green and two sisters, Doris Faye and Betty Jo Carrington.
Left with precious memories are her mother, Hazel Green, husband Percy Larkin, one son, Trimmis Larkin (Traci), one daughter Tangela Igbokwe, one step-son, Dexter Charles (Dixie) Houston, TX, two grandsons; Travis Larkin and Mansa Igbokwe, four grand-daughters;, Breanna Larkin, Kamaria Igbokwe, Tasia Igbokwe and Sabrina Charles; one sister Mary Chatman (Walter) of Missouri City, TX; one brother Ben Ed Green Jr. (Sheryl) of Humble, TX, two Brother in laws, Walter Larkin of Shreveport, LA, adopted sister Doris Wright of Houston, TX, Three aunts Versie Johnson, Dorothy Green of Houston, TX and Etheleen Williams of Chicago, IL, one uncle, Lincoln Green, Houston, TX, seven nieces; Dr. Timberlin Chatman-Raymond (James) Sugarland, TX, Kenna Green, Houston, TX, Cheryldon Larkin, Shreveport, LA, April West (Darren) Athens, GA, Robin Brown (Quentin) Stone Mountain, GA, Kimberly Butler, Dallas TX, and Lozetta Everett Houston, TX and three nephews; Timothy Chatman (Rahma) Houston, TX, Shvoris Carrington, Houston, TX, Steven Green, Houston, TX and a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
