Lina was the 7th of 10 children born to Siller and Trude Sample, and although times were hard, the Sample family stayed very close.
Mama met Clarence Barton and they were married in 1947, and settled in Houston. They raised 4 children; Susie, Joe, Bridgett and Connie.
Every weekend the Barton family went rodeoing where she met other 1960 era rodeo mothers, all of whom she outlived.
On December 15, 2023 at the age of 93, Lina Barton went to sleep in the arms of angels, and in the presence of her children.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Lis Counts, Jason Counts, Jodie Parker, Wendy Wade, Bobby Joe Hill and Kayla Bryson; 10 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
A graveside service for Lina will be held Thursday, December 21, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Rosewood Cemetery, 2602 S Houston Ave, Humble, TX 77396.
