Lessie Mae (Taylor) Moore was born in Madisonville, Texas on Saturday, the 13th of December, 1919, to parents John Albert Taylor and Mary Alice Denman Taylor. She passed away in Houston, Texas on Sunday, the 19th of June, 2011, at the age of 91.
Lessie graduated from Madisonville High School. She met Leo Travis "L.T." Moore and they were married on Saturday, the 16th of August, 1941, in Monahans, Ward County, Texas. She was devoted to raising her family, was a dedicated employee in food service with the Spring Branch Independent School District for over 20 years and was a longtime member of First Baptist Church Spring Branch.
Short by only two months, Lessie is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, L.T. Moore; her wonderful and caring daughters, Sandra Jayne Moore Teeler and husband Bob, Cathy Nell Moore Porter and husband John; her adored grandchildren, Jake Travis Porter, Cade Lucas Porter and wife Crystal, and by her sister-in-law, Anita Corrie Moore Wallace. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary, as well as brothers and sisters: Roy Jewel Taylor, Albert Truman Taylor, Bonnie Ruth Taylor Denman, Truby Dee Taylor Nevill, Essie Ree Taylor Nevill, Mary Faye Taylor Haltom and Willie Bee Taylor Marsh.
The family would like to offer their heartfelt appreciation to her friends, church family and the staff of The Cottage of Spring Branch for all the care and kindness shown.
The family will receive friends at a visitation on Monday, the 20th of June, from five until seven o'clock in the evening at Waltrip Funeral Directors, 1415 Campbell Road in Houston, where funeral services will be held in the chapel at ten o'clock in the morning on Tuesday, the 21st of June, with Reverend Corey Agricola and Reverend Kelli Barron-Agricola officiating. A private burial will take place at Woodlawn Garden of Memories in Houston.
