Mrs. Leslie (Bacon) Lott

Leslie B. Lott, widow of James Lott. Mother of Eloise, Beverly (preceded in death), Brenda and Otis. Grandmother to Mondrell, Kisha (Wardell), Arremee (Robert), Amber, Leslie (Fee), Deconnia and Christie. Great Grandmother to Arshadia, Michelle, Xavier, Tauryn, Taylon, Chloe, Chelsey and Skylar. As the matriarch of our family, she lived by bible principles and led by example with a stern look, firm hand and a loving heart. As a loyal servant of Jehovah, she always had a scripture to correct, encourage or guide us along our path. To keep the family close, she prepared monthly dinners. She made quilts for all of her

children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, so we can wrap up in the warmth of her love. Up to the very end, she was providing love, support, encouragement through literature and telephone calls. She leaves behind a legacy of service for us to immolate.

Leslie was born to Mondie and Arremee Bacon, the third of ten children. 6 of whom proceeded her in death. Mildred, Gladys and Joe remain to celebrate her life. The importance of service to faith and family was instilled in her by her parents at an early age. Her long life of service began after losing her mother at the age of 12. She taught herself to cook and to sew so that she could assume responsibility for the household tasks and care of her siblings. Over the years she prepared meals and developed cooking and baking skills. Her legendary desserts were often requested at school, work, church, social and family events. We attended Sunday dinners with “to-go” containers in tow. Her sewing skills improved over the years as well, resulting in clothing for her siblings early on and later for her children. She learned to quilt and made them out of necessity as a teen, and later as an act of love. She and her siblings remained close and have rallied around each other throughout their lives.

Throughout her life she worshipped and served her religious affiliations. As a child she was baptized as Methodist, the religion of her parents. During her years as a young adult, she became an Eastern Star and worshipped as Baptist. After welcoming a Jehovah’s Witness fieldworker, going from door to door, into her home, began studying and was later baptized. While in Houston she attended meetings at Northeast and Heights Kingdom Halls. During her time in Georgia she attended the Stephenson RD, Kingdom Hall. She led bible studies, went door to door distributing literature in field service. In later years

she participated in letter writing and making telephone calls. Once her health did not allow her to attend meetings in person, she learned technology and attended via zoom.

Her affiliations with these congregations yielded some lasting friendships. Some of whom having preceded her in death. As not to inadvertently omit someone names, it will not be mentioned. Though

you know if you were the one that made sure she got home and in the house safely when she lived alone and no longer drove at night. You may have provided a ride to meetings, special gatherings, asked her to accompany you in the field service or sit in on a bible study. As her mobility decreased, you were the couple that purchased a transport wheelchair and accompanied her to a national convention or the couple that made sure she got to circuit assemblies. Throughout the years you reached out to her with visits, cards and telephone calls with expressions of love, concern, and encouragement. You demonstrated patience and kindness while teaching her to use technology. You promptly responded to her calls to troubleshoot her devices and secure links to meetings. She valued these friendships, enjoyed the socialization and was appreciative of all the acts of love and kindness. Leslie demonstrated by example and imparted to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren the importance of honesty

and a strong work ethic. Her work and service over of 25 years to the Hawkins family resulted in a valued relationship lasting beyond her retirement. In her words “I went to work for a family and ended up with lifelong friends”.
