Leonel R Mendez

Leonel R. Mendez, 72, passed away January 25, 2015. He was born in Brownsville, Texas on June 26, 1942 to Pedro Mendez and Paula Rivera. Leonel received his GED and later obtained his certification as an air conditioning technician. He was an avid member of The Disabled American Veterans. Leonel enjoyed spending his past time “Tinkering” with his electronics and gadgets.

Leonel was preceded in death by his parents Pedro Mendez and Paula Rivera and his sister Lupita Tallo. He is survived by his loving and caring wife, Bea Mendez; sons, J.R. Mendez and Cedric Mendez; grandchildren, Caleb B. Mendez, Scarlett Mendez, Violet Mendez and Madison Spotswood; siblings, Peter Mendez, Rick De Leon, Joe Moreno, Frank Moreno, Mario Moreno, Lucy Mondragon, Rosario Herebia and Estela Perez.

The family would like to give special thanks to all the family and friends that supported them in their time of need along with Hospice Plus and Lisa his nurse.

A visitation will be held from 5pm to 8pm on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at Brookside Funeral Home Champions. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at Christ of Good Shepherd Church at 11am. A committal service will be held Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at Houston National Cemetery following the church service.
