Lee W. Haynes graced the world with his presence on January 14th 1935. He was the first born son of Willie Lee Haynes and Ivory Lee Fantroy, in the Post Oak Community of Fairfield, Texas. His only sibling Clyde E. Haynes preceded him.
Lee united with the New Zion Baptist Church at a very early age & later he joined Church of God and Christ in Fairfield. His church membership followed him as he moved; with his final church home being Mt. Ararat of Houston Texas.
He had an extensive education, starting in Austin, Texas. He held a Bachelor and Master Degrees. He worked for Dogan High School, Houston Tillotson College, Prairie View A&M University, Booker T. Washington, as the Science Department Chair for 46 years. He also worked as a professor of Science at Texas Southern University and Houston Community College. While at Booker T. Washington High School he received the NASA Trailblazer Award for Space Shuttle Experiments.
Lee leaves to mourn: Five Children- Ivy Haynes, Christina Haynes, Robin Jass, Reginald Haynes Sr. & Becky Baldwin, Ten Grandchildren, Four Great Grandchildren and a host of other family members & friends.
A visitation for Lee will be held Friday, August 19, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Paradise Funeral Home, 10401 West Montgomery, Houston, TX 77088. A visitation will occur Saturday, August 20, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Mt. Arac Baptist Church, 5801 W. Montgomery Road, Houston, TX 77091. A funeral service will occur Saturday, August 20, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Mt. Arac Baptist Church, 5801 W Montgomery Road, Houston, TX 77091. A committal service will occur Saturday, August 20, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 4:30 PM at Post Oak Cemetery, 371 FM 1580, Fairfield, TX 75840.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Lee's memory may be made.
