Allie “Lee” Hartwell, age 91, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 6, 2019, in Sugar Land, Texas, after a battle with dementia and breast cancer. Lee was born on July 26, 1927 in Pickens, South Carolina. She met the love of her life, Gilbert F. Hartwell and married him in 1945. They were married 53 years before he passed away. Lee was a housewife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Lee and Gilbert moved to Houston in 1959 where they raised three daughters. Lee was a long-time member of St. Philip’s Methodist Church in Houston. She was preceded in death by her parents, Furman and Nell Waldrop, and brothers John and Pete Waldrop. Lee is survived by her daughter, Debbie Reed and husband Jerry, daughter Cindy Hartwell, daughter Vicki Wallin and husband Glenn, grandchildren Matthew Reed, Jonathan Reed and wife Lindsey, Krista Hawn and husband Douglas, Daniel Lipsanen and wife Lisa, Alex Wallin and great grandchildren Payton and Mason Reed.
The family would especially like to thank the incredible staff of nurses, caregivers, administrative staff and hospice team at Silverado Memory Care in Sugar Land for the amazing care, love, and kindness that was extended to Lee during the five years she lived at Silverado.
