Laura was raised in the Houston Heights on 29th street. She was a Reagan High School graduate 1950 now known as Heights High School. Proud member of the famous Reagan Redcoats. At 18 she began at Prudential Insurance as a secretary. Laura Miller worked her way up to Office Manager and first assistant to the Director of the Houston Agency. After the branch won the first place trophy and topped all others in the company two years in a row she retired proudly with 38 years service. While at Prudential she earned numerous awards, was provided exciting travel opportunities and was given a wonderful career experience she greatly valued. Active bridge club member for over 60 years. Devout member of Concordia Lutheran Church since 1970. Played golf for 15 years after retiring. Laura and family enjoyed her retirement vacation home in Lago Vista, Texas for 30 years. She was a two-time cancer survivor. Until her husband passed away she loved to travel and cook; afterwards she enjoyed many trips to the casinos in Louisiana with family and friends.
Preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Jacqueline Leago of Houston, Texas; husband of 64 years Randell L. Miller of Houston, Texas; son Larry W. Miller of San Antonio, brother Frank E. Leago of Cypress, Texas; and many beloved aunts, uncles and cousins. Survived by, granddaughter Jacqueline Miller Crow and husband Austin Crow of Klein, Texas; grandson Jeffery Partin and wife Suzanne of Cypress, Texas; granddaughter Carrie Roper and husband Josh of Magnolia, Texas; grandson William Partin of Austin, Texas; great-grandchildren Lux, Brady and Ace Crow; Grace and Henry Roper; Miller and Perrie Partin; Christie Besse and husband Paul; great-great-grandchildren Isaac, Coralyn and Kessler Besse; sister-in-law and beloved friend Betty Leago, Cypress, Texas; niece and Goddaughter Lisa Leago Spears and great-nephew Chad Spears; niece Donna Leago Bond and great-niece Kasey Hudspeth; beloved friends brother and sister-in-law Don and Hazel Turner of Conroe, Texas; nephew Kenneth Turner and wife Debbie of Spring, Texas, great-niece Chelsea Ochocki and husband Aaron, great-great niece Brinley; great niece Haley Jebousek and husband Jared; nephew Michael Turner and wife Kim, great-nephew Joshua and wife Katrina ; great-great nephews Jax, Jericho, Illidan, Deon, great-nephew Jonah and great-niece Jayden. More than just a cousin, very close friend Joyce Taylor and many other close cousins and friends including lifelong friend Dorothy Artz.
Visitation with the family was held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 30, 2023 at Waltrip Funeral Directors. Funeral services began at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 30 at Concordia Lutheran Church in Houston, with Pastor Russell “Red” Etzel, officiating. Entombment followed at 2:00 p.m. in the Memorial Mission Mausoleum at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery. Active Pallbearers were Jeffery Partin, William Partin, Josh Roper, Henry Roper, Austin Crow, Kenneth Turner; Honorary Pallbearers were Brady and Ace Crow, and Michael Turner and Chad Spears.
