Larry Dewitt Jackson, Sr. was born on July 26, 1949 to the proud parents of Odell C. Jackson and Blossie T. Hoskins in Houston, Texas. As a child he attended the Church of the Living God, 911 Conklin St., where he gave his life to Christ at an early age. He attended Osborne Elementary, McWilliams High School, and Prairie View A&M University. There he met the love of his life, Betty Ann Mack. They wed on June 27, 1970. Seven children were born during their forty-four year union. Larry was an extraordinary caring and protective husband and father. Throughout his life Larry enjoyed taking road trips with his family. He worked various occupations over 40 years, but retired as a Carpenter and a member of the Carpenters Local Union. He exemplified the true meaning of "love thy neighbor as thyself," which revealed through the way he engaged in conversations with strangers. He always left a lasting impression of who he was as a person, a husband, and a father. He loved playing instruments which included his favorite, the piano. He will always be remembered for his witty personality and character. He passed from this life on May 8, 2015. He was preceded in death by his mother, Blossie T. Hoskins-Jackson, a daughter, Mignon A. Jackson, and a sister, Angelette Jackson. Survivors include: four sons, Michael A. Jackson (Dorita), of South Korea, Larry D. Jackson Jr. (Shunte') of Houston, Le's J.C. Jackson (Venetta) of Maryland, and Sidney J.J. Jackson of Houston; three daughters, Andrea M. Jackson of Houston, Comolitha Howard of Houston, and Ella M. Jackson-Freeman (Octavish) of Houston; two sisters, Sandra Whittington and Evelyn Jackson; five brothers-in-law, John L. Mack (Sharon), Donald Mack, Lee Mack (Vanessa), Cleveland Mack (Felicia), and Isaac Mack, Sr. (Yvette); and a sister-in-law, Evelyn Thompson (Donald) and Gary Mack; twenty-seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, two nephews, Freddie Sims and Jason Sims; special recognition Yourlette Mack and a host of family and friends.
