Larry Wayne Golden, 75, of Jersey Village, Texas went home to be with the Lord on May 7, 2024 after a brave battle with cancer. He was born on February 3, 1949 in Houston, Texas to parents Les and Bess Golden and was raised in the Heights area of Houston. He graduated from Reagan High School and then the University of Houston with a degree in finance. He started his career selling real estate with his father at Golden Realty. He later became self-employed as a real estate appraiser, Golden Properties, for over 40 years. He never actually retired, just cut back a little.
Larry’s love for the Lord was first in his life. He was a long time member of Bible Way Baptist and Jersey Village Baptist Church where he served as ushers. Most recently, he was a member at Tallowood Baptist Church where he enjoyed the fellowship of his Cornerstone family, including the Cornerstone SS department.
Larry was an avid hunter and fisherman. He dearly loved going to his river house in Sargent every week for fishing trips, where he would stay up throughout the night fishing (unless they weren’t biting)! When not fishing, you could always catch him cheering on the Astros. Larry loved attending and coaching his son Justin’s baseball teams and loved being a Gold Duster dad for his daughter Joanna’s drill team. Larry also enjoyed rooting for his children’s college teams, including the Sam Houston State Bearcats and the Fightin Texas A&M Aggies. His strong passion in supporting his children’s teams and interests continued on to his grandson Beau’s baseball teams, where he always cheered him on from the stands.
Larry is survived by his son, Justin Patrick Golden and wife, Chloe, of Atascocita, Texas and his daughter, Joanna Paige Decker and husband, Shane, of Houston, Texas.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Beau Greyson Golden, Caroline Elizabeth Golden, and soon-to-be granddaughter Landry Joy Decker due in August.
Larry is also survived by his brother Danny Golden and wife, Pat, of Jersey Village, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents Les and Bess Golden.
We would like to give a special thanks to Judy Taylor for her unwavering love, support, and friendship.
