Larry Earl Fuller (Aged 56), originally from Monongahela, Pennsylvania, lost his battle with lung cancer on Sunday July 24th, 2011. He is survived by Bill Hayden, his life partner of 20-years; his sister Linda her husband Dallas Laughlin, of Hedgesville, WV, their two grown children Nathaniel and Dominique; and his father Charles Fuller of Sun City, AZ; he was pre-deceased by his mother, Vera Cox Fuller in 2005.
Mr. Fuller was most recently employed as an Administrative Assistant in the Department of Administration and Regulatory Affairs for the City of Houston. Prior to moving to Houston, in 2009, Mr. Fuller served as the Assistant City Clerk of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, a Chartered Office of the City. Previous employment included serving as the Office Manager of the Chicago Field Office of Turner Construction; Executive Assistant to the Director of the Illinois State Police Forensic Science Center in Chicago, Illinois; and as the co-owner and proprietor of the Little White House Bed & Breakfast and an agent of Personalized Travel in Washington, D.C.
From 1974 to 1978, Mr. Fuller served honorably in the U.S. Navy attaining the rate of Second Class Petty Officer. During his time in the Navy, he was part of the commissioning crew and plank owner of the destroyer USS Spruance (DD-963), where he served as the Commanding Officer’s Secretary. Following his sea duty, Larry served as a Personnelman 2/C at the U.S. Naval Air Station in Keflavik, Iceland.
Following his honorable discharge from the Navy, he settled in Washington, D.C. where he eventually met his life partner Bill. They had 20, too-short, years together, making homes in Washington, Chicago, Fort Lauderdale, and finally Houston. One of Larry’s favorite pastimes was to travel and we took many trips with family and friends to Europe, the Middle East, Russia, the Caribbean, and several trans-Atlantic Cruises with his in-laws, Bob and Maryann Hayden.
We would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of the Vitas Hospice in the Woodlands, for the exceptional care and selfless devotion he received to make his final days as peaceful as possible.
