Lanette Marie Minzenmayer Altman, 85, passed away peacefully with family by her side on February 10, 2022. Lanette was born on November 29, 1936. She was the first child to Lee Minzenmayer and Viola Quinn Minzenmayer. Lanette married C. E. Altman in 1957, and she became a mother to Karen D. Tannehill in July 1961.
Lanette began her career at Texas Commerce Bank (later renamed JPMorgan Chase) in 1961 and later ended it when her second grandchild was on her way into the world in 1995. Lanette was a proud woman to have worked hard and earn a decent living for herself and her only daughter. She wanted to teach Karen that a woman had to be strong, diligent, and motivated in the world of single motherhood.
In February 1993, Lanette became a grandmother to a baby boy, Zechariah Nicholas Tannehill. Her coworkers helped her celebrate with her very first “#1 Grandma” mug that is still in her cabinet to this day. In December 1995, her second grandchild was born, a girl by the name of Meaghan Marie Tannehill. During that year, Lanette turned in her resignation at the bank to focus more on her growing family and ensure that her grandchildren would know the love she had to give.
Over the next several years, Lanette volunteered at Hairgrove Elementary where she could be close to her daughter and grandkids. You could find her in the copy room assisting others, chatting with teachers, and sitting with her little ones at lunch. As the children grew older, Lanette began attending football and volleyball games. She became their biggest cheerleader on the sidelines. Watching her two grandchildren grow into prosperous adults was her greatest joy. Lanette lived for her family, and now her memory will live in each of them. Each one has their own special anecdotes and reasons to smile, but her devoted love and kind heart is something they share in unison.
