Kenneth "KC" Charles Watkins, Sr. succumbed to Pancreatic Cancer on July 15, 2022. Always strong willed and determined he had fought his battle since December 23, 2021. He did not want to give up his fight but his body could not beat this terrible disease. Ken (KC) was born July 21, 1944 at St Joseph's Hospital in Houston, Texas at 7:30 PM. As a boy and young man Ken attended Church of Resurrection, St Thomas High School and University of Houston.
Served with Houston Fire Department for 24 years retiring with rank of District Chief: Number 1 Scholastically and President of Fire Training Class. Certified Class A Instructor Fire Fighting Skills. Taught New Recruits for 5 years. Youngest District Fire Chief in Houston Fire Department at the time.
Ken started a second career with Continental Airlines (United Airlines) for 22 years as Ramp/Ticket/Gate Agent to pursue his love of travel. His first week at Continental Airlines he and Kay were flying to Las Vegas and continued to travel up until his health declined a few months ago.
Always competitive in nature Ken loved holiday times playing games with the family. Ken was an avid golfer, reader and world traveler. He loved sports, going to Green Oaks Tavern listening to live music and having fun. He truly lived his life to the fullest. Ken knew Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Member of St Philip the Apostle Church (Huffman).
Preceded in Death by his Grandchildren: Amanda Watkins and Kenny Watkins III. Parents: W O "Watty" and Mary Elizabeth Watkins. Siblings: Walton O'Neil (Bucky) Watkins and Nina Watkins. Sister in Laws: Marlene Watkins and Shirleen Watkins.
Ken is survived by his loving wife of 37 years: Kay Isbell Watkins. His Children: Kenneth Charles (Kenny) Watkins, Jr., April Watkins Nugent (Tom) and Tracy Watkins Dunlap (Charles). Siblings: Sheri Rogers Merz (Rich), and Thomas "Tom" Watkins. Brother in Laws: Thomas "Tommy" Isbell (Deborah) and Roy Bodie Isbell (Sandra). Beloved Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, Nieces and Nephews.
Serving as pallbearers are Andrew Watkins, Conor Watkins, Mathew Watkins, Tom Watkins, Chris Rogers and Rich Merz.

A visitation for KC will be held Wednesday, July 20, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. A rosary service will occur from 6:00 PM to 6:30 PM. A funeral service will occur Thursday, July 21, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A committal service will occur Thursday, July 21, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Brookside Memorial Park, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039.
