Kenneth's college education began at the University of Texas in Austin and was interrupted in the early 1950's by the Korean War where he served in the Pacific. Upon his return he continued his education at the University of Houston. After, he was employed by J. Ray McDermott and later worked as an independent oil producer. Kenneth will be especially remembered for his quick wit, spirit of adventure and the tenaciousness that allowed him to achieve top rankings in many endeavors.
Kenneth was an avid golfer, fisherman, hunter, gourmet cook, wine enthusiast and "foodie" before the term was coined. He was also a member of the Royal Order of Jesters, Houston Court 136th.
Kenneth is predeceased by his parents K. G. "Red" McCann and Anna Ruth McCann; brother Michael McCann, D.V.M. He is survived by his wife and soul mate, Aleta; daughter Kathy Lombardi and husband Michael of Lahiana, Maui Hawaii; brothers, Gerald Wayne McCann and John Douglas McCann. Joe and Merrill Hafner of Houston, and Stephen and Michelle Trosclair of Slidell, of Louisiana, in-laws, and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Rick Goldberg, Dr. Jim Muntz, Dr. Manuel Reyes and Dr. David Samuels.
Serving as honorary pallbearers are Jim Bocell, Philip Ernester, Joe Hafner, Eddie Moses, Carol Richey, and dear friends who predeceased Kenneth in death are Jack Helfman, Blair McCarter, Randy Shawell and Jerry Wendell.
The memorial service is to be conducted at two o'clock in the afternoon on Wednesday, the 14th of May, at St. Martin's Episcopal Church, 717 Sage Road in Houston, where the Rev. Chad T. Martin, Associate Rector for Evangelism and Worship, is to officiate. Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the adjacent Bagby Parish Hall.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that contributions in memory of Kenneth be directed to Houston Hospice, 1905 Holcombe Blvd., TX, 77030; or the charity of one's choice.
