He attended Mary McCleod Bethune Elementary and Charles Richard Drew Jr High and Aldine Sr. High.
In his younger years Ken enjoyed, bird hunting (robins mostly), skateboarding, and going to the principal’s office with his best friend, Curtis Bookman for roughhousing in the hallways and classrooms. Even knowing that the dreaded Exxon leather belt would be waiting for him when he got home, Ken always said, “whoopings don’t last that long”.
He was baptized at a young age under leadership of Clem Collins of Greater Progressive Baptist Church where he studied the word faithfully. In 1982 he became an ordained deacon in the same church. After relocating to the south side of Houston, he joined Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor J. Amos Jones where he also served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher for many years. During the pandemic, Kenneth began to enjoy the services of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church Rev, Edwin Davis, pastor. He was determined to join before he left this earth and he did.
As a young man he worked for large companies like The Houston Post, Exxon, and Airborne Express. Kenneth accomplished his entrepreneurship dream by becoming a franchisee for DHL. Ken was grateful to have joined Lowes Home Improvement Stores and worked for them in a leadership position for many years. He was excited to get up early mornings, knowing he would meet, help and support so many people from different walks of life everyday.
Kenneth had a passion for hunting, camping, fishing, gardening and fixing things around the house and outdoors. In recent years he had begun to build his newest business venture in KD Lawn Care and Services.
Kenny spent the last 25 years with Jaci Stevens Davis. As a couple, they enjoyed traveling, movies and dinner dates.
After well fought battle with cancer, he will join his paternal grandparents; Dec. McKinley and Tennessee Davis, maternal grandparents; David and Lucille McBride in heaven.
He leaves to mourn his loving parents Deacon Roosevelt and Rachel (McBride) Davis, wife Jaci (Stevens) Davis, and 3 children, Kendra Danielle Davis, Hannah Rachelle Harris (Al’fabian) and Issac Steven Davis. His siblings; Jerome Davis (Joslyn), Deacon Dwaine Anthony Davis (Evelyn) Gerald Davis (Tonya), Lourine Davis-Cook and Renita Davis-Robinson (Denairius) 3 grandkids; Karter James Harris, Skylar Harris and Kinsley Harris (Little Kinsley shares a birthday with her granddaddy). 7 nephews (Marcus, Dwaine Jr ,Timothy, Gerald Jr, Damon, Lorenzo Tyler and Darius) 4 nieces (Nadene, Nisha, Gerrica and Kayla) and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Special friends and neighbor Wanda Bookman, Mr. and Mrs. David Brooks, his aunts Cynthia, Gwendolyn, and Marilyn Mcbride, and many other great neighbors and friends.
