Carolyn Kay Wilcoxen Craig, passed away to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday evening, the 4th of June, following an accident at home. “Kay” was 82 years of age. In our grief, we celebrate that she is united today, in the presence of Jesus, with her husband, her youngest son, and her infant son, who preceded her in death at birth.
Kay was born on May 26, 1941 to Mr. and Mrs. Vaughan Wilcoxen in Bexar County, Texas. Her formative years were spent in Dallas where she developed a love for dance. Following her college days at Southern Methodist University, Kay pursued her ballet dreams in New York where she studied with the American School of Ballet and became a member of the New York Ballet Company. After 3 years of dancing, she returned to Texas where she met the love of her life, James David Craig. They were married on November 28, 1964.
Kay was a devoted wife, a loving mother, a loyal friend and a faithful follow of Jesus Christ. She had a passion for God and was a student of His Word. She often said that her strength was found in God’s Word. Throughout her adult life, she regularly participated in Bible study classes through Bible Study Fellowship, the College of Biblical Studies, Bethel Presbyterian Church and Pine Valley Bible Church. Most recently, she was enjoying the Bible teaching at Christ Evangelical Presbyterian Church where she worshiped. Kay not only studied God’s Word, but she practiced Biblical principles in her daily life as she shared the love of Jesus wherever she walked.
Kay is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wilcoxen; her husband, David Craig; her son, Wesley Craig; her son, and her sister Mary Wilcoxen. She will be forever missed by her son who survives her, David Spencer Craig, whom she loved deeply. She will be lovingly remembered by a multitude of friends and the entire Craig family.
There will be a celebration of Kay’s life at eleven o’clock on Friday, June 16th at the Christ Evangelical Presbyterian Church Chapel, 8300 Katy Freeway.
Memorial gifts may be made in Kay’s name to: Bible Study Fellowship or Christ Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 8300 Katy Freeway, Houston 77024.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.forestparkwestheimer.com for the Craig family.
