Katy Jo Cornatzer, age 85, passed away on Saturday, April 15th, 2017 in the Houston Methodist Hospital. Katy was born in Clovis, New Mexico on November 7th, 1931 to Earl and Flora (Martin) Farrell. At a young age her family moved to the downtown Houston area. She attended and graduated from Milby High School with the class of ’48. In the early ‘70s Katy and her husband, Charles “Buddy” Cornatzer, moved to the Sagemont area where she drove the school bus for the Easthaven Baptist School. She was a very hard worker, after obtaining her broker’s license she became a real estate agent in the Southbelt/Ellington
area; employed by various companies such as Jim Tucker Real Estate and Roy Shiflett Realtors. Throughout her life she was the ultimate caregiver to her family, always putting her family’s needs above her own. Katy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brother James Dale Farrell, and her son Cary Cornatzer. She is survived by her son James Jay Farrell, her daughter Kellie Cornatzer, her granddaughter Candice Gunn, her granddaughter Jaylynn Tippey and her grandson James Dean Farrell.The Cornatzer family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at the CVICU unit at the Houston Methodist Hospital for their compassionate care.
