Kathy was born on December 9, 1944 in Canandaigua, New York, to Harold and Genevieve Brown. Her dad never had the opportunity to meet his strong-willed, independent daughter, as he died in World War II before she was born. She and her mother lived with her grandparents as she grew up. Being the daughter of a hard working single mother, Kathy learned the importance of hard work and dedication to family. This was a quality she would later pass on to her children.
Kathy married William (Bill) Rauber, also from Canandaigua, on October 2, 1965. His service in the Air Force took them to Grandview, Missouri where their daughter, Kristen Elizabeth was born. After serving his time in the Air Force, they returned to Canandaigua where their son, Kevin Lawrence was born. Bill’s work transferred them to Houston. Kathy considered this her “second home”.
Throughout her lifetime, Kathy had many hobbies such as sewing, ceramics, macramé, and gardening. She mostly loved cooking and helping others. She was a very giving person who always thought of others before herself. She couldn't stand to see any living thing go hungry. Kathy would often make extra meals for people she knew didn't have enough to eat. She also had a soft place in her heart for stray animals which she would go out of her way to feed or take them in. (Thanks, Mom!)
She is survived by her husband, Bill: daughter Kristen and her husband Clint; son Kevin; and grandchildren, Megan, Carter, and Courtney.
