

Julia Gonzales, 90, entered into eternal peace on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at the First Colony Health and Rehabilitation Center.Julia was born on April 12, 1924, a daughter of the late Jose and Juana Fernandez. She graduated from Jefferson Davis High School in 1941 and worked 4 years for local department stores. She married the love of her life, the late Daniel Gonzales, September 30, 1946.Julia dedicated her life to caring for her family.
She was a strong and courageous person with a loving and generous heart who relished hosting celebrations at her home for family and friends. Julia was an active member of St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church. She served as a marriage sponsor, CCE teacher and Eucharistic minister. She was a member of the Choir and of the Guadalupana Society.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, Daniel in 2000; her infant son, Paul Anthony in 1960; her great granddaughter, Zoey I. Dockal in 2011; and, siblings, Jorge and Pedro Fernandez and Leonor Cruz.She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her children Joe E. (Raquel Aurora) Gonzales, Delores A. Hernandez, Ninfa G. Ramos; her grandchildren Sonja Y. Gonzales, Paul A. (Thuy) Gonzales, Gina N. (Mike) Dockal, J. Gabriel (Jennie) Gonzales, Ian C. (Kristi) Hernandez, Eduardo E. "Tito" Hernandez and Matthew R.(Monica) Ramos; her great grandchildren Maya Gonzales, Nicholas and Samantha Hernandez, Jozie and Gizelle Dockal, Jayden Tran and Chloe and Isabel Gonzales; her sisters Lucy Valdez, Virgie Hernandez, Sophie (Kino) Flores, Inez Vasquez; and many loving nephews, nieces and friends.
The family offers a special thanks to the staff of First Colony Health and Rehabilitation Center for their genuine care and expertise.Viewing will be held Monday, March 23, 5:00-8:00pm with recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:30 pm at Forest Park-Westheimer Funeral Home, 12800 Westheimer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, Tuesday at 10:00am at St. Mark the Evangelist Church, 5430 W. Ridgecreek Dr. Procession will follow to Graveside service in Forest Park-Westheimer Cemetery, 12800 Westheimer.
