Born February 16, 1919 in Houston Heights, Passed June 4, 2012 Houston Texas, Marguerite attended public schools in Houston through Reagan Sr. High. She continued her education in Medical and Hospital Administration at the University of Houston and Baylor College of Medicine. Her working career included Houston Concrete Pipe Company, Vice President of Bryson Building & Lumber Company, Director of Admissions at Hermann Hospital, Director of Patient Services, Flight Operations-Hermann Hospital. Director, Flight Operations, LIFE FLIGHT, Hermann Hospital, Treasurer-Houston Osteopathic Hospital Foundation and Secretary- Houston Osteopathic Association. She assisted in the development of LIFE FLIGHT, Emergency Air Medical Service for trauma patients in 1976, and she was later named the “FIRST LADY OF LIFE FLIGHT” at the National Meeting in Pennsylvania. She was a pioneer in changing the way Trauma Services were delivered to the public across the United States and the World.
She was an active member of St. Philip Presbyterian Church, Junior League of Houston, American Helicopter Society as well as many different Health Associations. Marguerite was the recipient of many awards including: YWCA Outstanding Women of the Year, Outstanding Achievement- Memorial Hermann Life Flight, Proclamations from both Texas State House and Senate as well as awards from Harris County Deputy, Houston Police as well as being listed in “Who’s Who’s” American Women 2001.
She was preceded in death by her parents John Oliver and Julia Benetta Amonette, her Husband Newton A. Bryson, her only child -Son Barry Lee Bryson, late husband William H Badger and all of her sisters and brothers.
She is survived by her granddaughter Julie Bryson Beckham and husband Rob Beckham, grandson Christopher Lee Bryson, granddaughter Susan Amanda Bryson, great grandchildren: Bryson Beckham, Alex Beckham, Austin Beckham, Isabella Bryson and Issac Bryson
Stepsons: William Badger, Michael Badger, John Badger, and Sister in Law, Lucille Oliver.
Pallbearers will be: Larry Cady, Chris Bryson, Rob Beckham, Richard D. Oliver, Jr., James D. Oliver and Louis E. Smith and Michael Badger
The family would like to extend special thanks to “The Life Flight Team” (Employees and Retired), Hermann Memorial Staff and Volunteers, and Cindy Cady for being the best friend a gal could have.
The family will receive visitors at Forest Park Westheimer on Sunday from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM for visitation. Funeral Service will be Monday June 11th at 11:00 AM St Philip Presbyterian Church 4807 San Felipe Houston TX 77056. Burial to follow at Forest Park Westheimer.
